I am a psychiatrist trained at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), a Full Member of the Brazilian Psychiatric Association (ABP), and a member of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD). My clinical and academic work is dedicated to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of Mood Disorders, with a special focus on Bipolar Disorder—the area in which I concentrate my main scientific, clinical, and educational interests.

I work at the Center for Research and Education on Bipolar Disorder at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IPUB/UFRJ), CEBIP, and I am a former university professor. I began my Psychiatry training at UFF and deepened my clinical experience at UFRJ, especially in the Treatment-Resistant Depression Outpatient Clinic, caring for patients with severe, chronic, and difficult-to-manage conditions. I completed two postgraduate programs in Bipolar Disorder with Dr. Renato Silva, a leading Brazilian expert in the field, and contributed to his new book scheduled for release in August 2026; I pursued advanced training with Dr. Diego Tavares, a psychiatrist at GRUDA/USP; and completed a fellowship with the coordinator of USP’s Treatment-Resistant Depression, Self-Harm, and Suicidality Outpatient Clinic.

In clinical practice, I provide comprehensive psychiatric care that considers not only emotional symptoms, but also sleep, routine, functioning, performance, eating habits, and quality of life. I also treat binge eating and care for patients seeking healthy weight loss, helping identify emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric factors that may make weight loss and maintaining results more difficult.

I have a particular connection with and experience in caring for students preparing for university entrance exams and competitive public examinations, because I understand firsthand the pressure, anxiety, self-imposed demands, and fear of failure that are common at this stage. I believe mental health care can be decisive in turning potential into results. In recent years, I have treated patients admitted to Medicine at UFRJ, UERJ, and other universities, making this one of the most meaningful areas of my clinical practice.

Beyond clinical care, I am deeply involved in medical education and scientific development. I am a former professor at the Valença School of Medicine, teach physicians, psychologists, and health sciences students, and am a member of CINP (International College of Neuropsychopharmacology), an international organization dedicated to advancing research and education in neuropsychopharmacology. I regularly attend national and international conferences, including the Brazilian Congress of Psychiatry, Brain, the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting, and the European Congress of Psychiatry, maintaining a practice grounded in the best scientific evidence. I see patients in Ipanema, Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, and online, providing specialized, technical, and compassionate psychiatric care.
